Jason believes, “Every day is a great day, even when one is not as good as the previous day”. With this philosophy, during his tenure at LINAK®, Jason has continually maintained an optimistic attitude that carries across the organisation.
Straight off the bat, Jason’s challenge was implementing financial management processes to position LINAK Australia where it is today firmly. He recalls his first day at LINAK, “The Managing Director pulled me into his office and asked me to attend a meeting with the corporate insurance broker to discuss various insurance policies and renewals.” From there on, Jason took over the responsibility from the external accountant and began to improve cost and cash management and develop strategies for managing foreign exchange risks.
He recalls how much work there was to do, “I reviewed various insurance policies and operational costs and developed reporting and analysis tools.”
Besides developing great friendships with local and international colleagues, Jason’s most significant achievement has been implementing lean finance processes, a testament to his aptitude for fiscal management.
The Finance Manager role has gone from reporting to Denmark headquarters with one Excel spreadsheet to a sophisticated computerised system integrating with financial tools within the LINAK A/S system. As the technology evolved, Jason recalls moving from a DOS-based accounting/operational system to AXAPTA, a locally-based Microsoft system. “Over the years, I have moved away from transactional tasks into more financial management tasks.” Furthermore, Jason shared how the dynamics within the Finance team have changed, becoming more dynamic with greater flexibility, and equipped with a more advanced skill set.
In addition to his financial management achievements, Jason successfully helped implement a new Enterprise Resource Planning system that will improve organisational efficiency.
Jason mentioned that being a part of the LINAK team has been a gratifying experience, “This is a great place where I’ve been able to grow my career. And which recognises and rewards accomplishments”.
Jason concludes his reflection on his twenty years at LINAK with good memories. He states, “So many memories about life at LINAK, I can’t rate them in the order of best to good.” This is a fitting conclusion when you believe that “every day is a great day, even when one is not as good as the previous one”.
Congratulations, Jason, on your twentieth work anniversary at LINAK. We wish you the best from the rest of LINAK Australia & New Zealand staff.
