When Holmris B8 receives new interior design assignments, they note a significantly stronger focus on reuse and upcycling. One of the areas where reuse can provide considerable reductions in CO₂-related resource use is in the electric legs on height-adjustable desks. As Henrik Holmris, founder and creative director at Holmris B8, says: “I have never seen a desk with components from LINAK wear out – never. This is why the electric legs from LINAK can be reused, even when they are of an older generation.”
The high product quality has enabled Holmris B8 and LINAK to establish an agreement under which Holmris B8, following an assessment of the LINAK lifting columns, can offer an additional three-year warranty on desk legs that are up to 12 years old.
Quality can be reused
The agreement between Holmris B8 and LINAK is based on a shared confidence in product quality.
As Troels Strandby Jørgensen, Key Account Manager at LINAK Denmark, says: “We have strong confidence in the quality of our products. Electric lifting columns from LINAK are tested to run 5,000 full-stroke cycles, and they typically manage considerably more than that. This is why we are pleased to support Holmris B8 in reusing our lifting columns, enabling the full product lifetime to be utilised more effectively.”
Henrik Holmris adds, “LINAK has been very cooperative throughout this project, and we appreciate that. Our customers rely on our quality, and we have full confidence in the quality from LINAK – which is why they are the only actuator manufacturer we collaborate with on reuse of lifting columns.”

Sustainability initiatives in both companies
Beyond this agreement, both Holmris B8 and LINAK work with several other reuse-related initiatives. For example, Holmris B8 has launched Recrafted – a complete furniture collection created from older furniture or surplus materials. They also operate an extensive donation network through which furniture that cannot be resold is sent to, among others, schools and volunteer organisations.
LINAK also works with a range of sustainability-related development efforts. As Michael Jensen, Director, DESKLINE Business Unit, LINAK A/S, explains: “We continuously work to reduce the amount of steel used in our lifting columns, as steel is associated with substantial resource use. In addition, LINAK aims to extend product lifetime and incorporate a growing share of recyclable materials.” LINAK also has agreements with several large customers to return the plastic trays used for shipping lifting columns, allowing them to be used repeatedly. All of these measures are intended to lower the overall resource footprint associated with the products.
The transition towards more resource-conscious office environments is well underway, and the partnership between the two strong market players enables companies to prioritise reuse and longevity in their office design.
